Core Concepts/Copying chat history

Copying chat history

Clyra allows you to copy message history from any source, including protected and private channels. This is indispensable when you want to recreate an existing channel or create a backup copy.

Copying old messages

With Clyra, you can copy the history of messages previously published in the source. This is especially useful for quickly filling a new channel or for creating an archive of a channel you have an interest in.

Please note that according to Telegram rules, a bot can only copy history to a channel where it is an administrator with the right to publish messages. Copying history is available on Direct and Expert tariffs.

Where to find

Menu → Create a forward → Source and Destination → Copy history

1. Copying messages "as is"

"As is" (or "safe") mode means messages are copied without any changes. They will look exactly like original messages in the source.

What is kept:

  • Original message formatting
  • Original links and media quality
  • Original author's name (if not changed)

2. Copying messages using settings

If you want to modify messages during the copying process, follow these steps:

Step 1

Set up a forward for the source and destination.

Step 2

Apply all necessary settings: filters, replacements, captions, watermarks.

Step 3

Open the "Copy history" screen for this forward and select the desired period.

Please note that the replacement rules will also apply to the text on buttons and the content of notifications.

Copying old messages by scenario

Clyra offers several scenarios for copying history, depending on your needs. For each scenario, we have prepared a recommended set of settings.

Main scenarios:

  • Full history migration: Move all posts from one channel to another.
  • Content curation: Copy only selected posts using filters.
  • Archive and Backup: Create a copy of a channel for safe storage.
